One of the perks about working with a Christian mission within the United States is that we are able to see our family more frequently. For two weeks in August, we visited with our children, youngest grandchild, parents, my brothers, and many friends. We covered over 3,000 miles and spent time visiting with several friends and family members in Kentucky and Ohio, and we even stopped in Tennessee to see dear supporters on the way back home.
We had some quality time with our youngest son and his family in Kentucky, including our youngest granddaughter, and also our oldest son and his wife in Ohio. God faithfully protected us the entire trip. We hope that we were an encouragement to those with whom we visited, and we certainly were blessed and encouraged by those we know, and even by some whom we met for the first time along the way.
Though our trip wasn’t planned in order to raise support, we received gifts from dear friends, and we are so grateful for those unexpected surprises from God, including Norwex products that Darla is thoroughly enjoying. God continues to meet our every need and bless us with unexpected gifts.
Back in Florida, Darla and I had the opportunity to share our story with Pastor Mark and the members of the mission committee at the ARP Church in Bartow, FL. We were able to tell them about Harvest Aviation and the ministry opportunities that are available there. We have invited the youth group to come out to our hangar and learn more about how aviation plays a part in missions. They also expressed interest in coming to help with special projects when Harvest has the need.
At the end of August we had a visit with supporters from Arizona. It is always enjoyable for me to take friends out to the hanger to tour the Harvest facilities. Darla and I were encouraged by the visit, and we look forward to more friends in the next coming months. We are so grateful for the encouragement we receive from so many of you.
Last month, I created a special project to raise funds for a David Clark OneX noise cancelling headset. We were deeply moved by the response! Below is a picture of the new headset! In addition, enough surplus funds came in that I will be able to order an electronic flight bag. In layman’s terms, an electronic flight bag is an ipad used solely for flight planning and navigation since paper maps are now obsolete.
Some have asked how the support is coming along. We are at 64% of our monthly need of $1800. Darla has picked up a few additional students for the school year so God continues to provide in creative ways. We are so grateful for the prayers that are lifted up for Harvest, for us, and for our family.
