I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
Psalm 32:8 NKJV

Our October Newsletter is in memory of Reverend Kazuo Ozaki, our dear friend and mentor, who passed away on September 16th at the age of 92. Reverend Ozaki had been broadcasting the hope of Jesus Christ to Japan for over 60 years. "Papa Ozaki" was still airing weekly broadcasts to Japan up until his passing.  Retirement from Kingdom work was not an option.  His life truly was an example of a faithful servant.

When a Supporter Comes to Visit

We were blessed to have another supporter from Arizona visit us a weekend in September. I have known my friend Dave since we met at LeTourneau University some 40 years ago. He and his wife Joyce have been a constant in our lives, and we were really excited when Dave told us he would be in Florida on a work trip. I decided to arrange a training flight to coincide with Dave’s visit, so that we could pick him up for the weekend. It was a perfect weekend for training, as this trip gave Chad, one of my students, the opportunity to fly into a busy airport.  Chad was required to wear foggles, glasses which block his outside vision, so that he must only reference the aircraft’s instruments in order to fly and navigate to our destination.  Chad and I flew 8 hours that weekend. It normally takes over two weeks to accumulate that amount of time with a student.

Chad Peal, Missionary Pilot in Training

Chad, his wife Sarah and their 5 children are preparing for the mission field. Chad earned his aircraft mechanic’s license (A&P) by apprenticing at Harvest Aviation. He is now training with me in order to get his instrument rating, an advanced rating that allows him to fly in clouds and other weather conditions with poor visibility. He will need this and his commercial license before flying for a missionary organization. It is always a joy to be with Chad. When we were getting ready to depart the airport where we dropped of my friend Dave, we were able to talk to one of the young men there that helps to park the airplanes and order fuel. We soon learned that this young man was going through some difficult circumstances. Chad and I both had the opportunity to pray with him and encourage him to keep walking with Christ. We both sensed that our meeting with this young man was a divine appointment.

Chad and his family, praying for them as they seek God's direction to the field

I continue to work with board members and the director to help expedite our return to Belize. Last week the General Operations Manual was approved by the FAA.  I also continue to seek opportunities to share the mission of Harvest at local churches.  In early September, I was able to share with the congregation of Riverview Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Wauchula at a Sunday evening service.

Please Pray for:

  • Harvest Aviation to get a date for inspection of the Chieftain from the  FAA
  • Darla and I to balance our time well between keeping our souls nourished so we can effectively pour into others, our ministry at Harvest and our responsibilities with our church in our retirement park
  • Chad and his family as they prepare for the next steps in their missionary journey
  • Praise God  for the financial provision God is bringing  through his faithful obedient servants
  • Praise God for the approval by the FAA of the General Operations Manual
